Eagle files schematic symbols ? [message #169754] Sun, 26 February 2017 15:36 Go to next message

Decided to try my hands using Eagle files for a fairly basic PCB design.
Already found that the library does not have the basics like a Atmega328p-au micro symbol ?
I was disappointed since this would seem to be a common component of modern day ?
However, did an internet search and as usual found myself deeper in the rabbit hole finding everything BUT what I need in specifics.
So,here I am asking 2 simple questions.
I have manually searched for Eagle files schematic symbols and found 3 so far and had to add them manually to my library. So far,all three are in my design but now searching for the other components I have ordered from Mouser to add to the design and get this underway.
If I was using common resistors or capacitors and have purchased 0805 types, can I select ANY 0805 type in the library and get the same soldering pads?
Also, for other components not on the library listing how do I find these symbols and where in my datasheets is the information on the types I am looking for?
Package type or components specific?
Do I need to search online for specific symbols to download and how do I determine the "names" from my purchase list of each component?
Here is one such example of components I am trying to locate a symbol forĀ  and what would it be names in the library listing in Eagle?

I found what looks to be the proper symbol or footprint for this device.
located in a downloaded library batch.
It is listed as a crystal and uses the 4 pad soldering points and thinking this would be correct.
Looks like for resistors and capacitors I need to base it on any of the 0805 symbols and modify my own values?
Or search through bunches and see if there are values of which are needed.
Over the biggest hurdle so far in regards to symbols/footprints of my components. The rest are mainly basic.
