Backing up the newsgroup [message #168929] Wed, 25 January 2017 08:15 Go to next message

Hi,

does anyone know a way to back up the eagle usergroup? Preferably in an
easy to read format, like the thunderbird reader.

With all the changes going on, I'm fearing that they will shut down the
newsgroup and all the valuable information would be lost.

Regards,
Martin

You can set up access to the newsgroup in Thunderbird and then I guess you would be able to copy everything to a local folder within thunderbird? I've not tried this though so I don't know how well it would work.

All the historical data would likely be available from other sources for the long term though. It's all available on EAGLE Central and the Element14 forums and they would persist even if the CADSoft NTP servers were shut down.

Best Regards,

Rachael

If you have the disk space it will load all the messages. I ran out of
harddrive space and had to set it to purge older items a few years ago.
