When creating a new schematic and using the attached library (which was
created before), then trying to add the newly created component, Eagle
segfaults.

here is the library, because the forum doesn't allow attaching an xml
(for whatever reason):

sorry, we can't reproduce this, neither on Windows (8.1) nor on Linux (Suse 12.2) !
Which system is it?

Did you have any other windows open? This may be a resource (memory)
shortage as well.

@Walter:
System is Linux 64bit (Mageia 5, Stable Release) and I can recreate it
every time (just tried a few minutes ago)
Here the steps in short (just to make sure):
- $ ~/eagle-7.3.2/bin/eagle
- File -> New -> Schematic
- Library -> Use (then select the linked library)
- "Add a part" (then select the can controller)

@Clem:
Yes, I have many "other windows" open, as this is my workstation and I
can exclude a resource (memory) shortage because I have enough free
memory left.

I don't have Mageia available right now, but tried this on Suse 13.2.
Still no problem. Does it happen only with *this* library or generally ?
I'll take a look if we can test it on Mageia.

So far it only happens with this specific library, which was created
with Eagle 7.3.2.

Note that the same library seems to work just fine in Eagle 7.0.0.

Thanks,
Herbert

I have this same issue with Eagle 7.4.0 on Arch Linux (64-bit)

As soon as I click on one specific part in my library, it crashes. Did
you ever find a solution?

Do you have "Always vector font" in "Options/User interface" activated?
COuld please check and test. If you check this setting in the EAGLE
Control Panel and load the library file does it crash again?

Yes, I did have that ticked.

However unfortunately unticking it, closing and reopening the program
and it still crashes in the same way.

we now could reproduce a crash when opening a file in ArchLinux (64bit).
The same does *not* occur with EAGLE 7.5. Could you try that out?
From 7.4 to 7.5 third party libraries were updated which were most likely the cause.

Memory shortage cannot create a program crash.
Except when a programmer does not check the return value of malloc() for
a NULL-pointer...
(which is always done in a program intended for professional use)
