dear,

Any plans to support the new gerber revision?
Looks like this output has many benefits over the previous version.
More info you can find on the ucamco website.

Greetings

we're discussing internally wether to focus on Gerber X2 or ODB++.
We haven't decided yet which one and when.
If you could bring in a few arguments for the one or the other it would help us.

Dear Walter,

ODB++ contains the layers structure, and that is a clear plus. But
according to the X2 FAQ on the Ucamco web page I can get the same
with Gerber withour really changing my format, in a compatible
way.

Kindest regards

Hi Walter,

it seems simple to me... The developping effort for the X2 is only a
small extension to your existing 274X output. Not all features need to
be implemented, but the stackup info would be nice. For a better
information flow, attributes can also be implemented, maybe a bit later.

Starting an ODB output will cause a _lot_ of work from your side,
whereas the newer software from Orbotech will also support X2 at some
point.

my 2 cts...

best regards,

tjibbe

I think IPC-2581 would be a move forward. It is also XML based.
