Hi everyone!

In this previous discussion (/thread/33590/l/how-to-import-altium-files-into-eagle?displayFullThread=tr ue), it was mentioned that library importing into Eagle was not supported. That was in 2014.

Anyone knows if this has changed? Altium can export libraries into an .lia format. Is there a way to import those into Eagle?

Also when I import the Altium exported PCAD .sch and .brd files into Eagle, I'm not sure if there's schematic-board connection / annotation. (Not sure what the technical term is called) Is there a way to ensure or create that annotation?

I'm currently using a trial Altium 17 and Eagle 6.5.

Cheers,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

The *.lia format might be a Library Expert format. There is a freeware version of Library Expert but I don't know what you can do with that. You might be able to export from Altium in *.lia format and then use the freeware Library Expert to export to EAGLE but I don't know as I have never used either Altium or Library Expert. It's probably worth a try though.

Best Regards,

Rachael

Also, you might be better with at least EAGLE v7 I would think, as the library manager was improved in v7.

If you have a paid licence for version 6 then consider downloading the
last version 6 which is v6.6 and your licence still applies.

Thanks for the advice - ended up not trying Library Expert out. Had too little lead time to try figuring out a whole new software.

I did realise though, I'm on Eagle 7.7 (XP)
